Carowinds: The Early Years



			"Do-Se-Do"
		The "Do-Se-Do" was what is typically called a "Waltzer" ride. Carowinds added this Waltzer ride to the Country Crossroads section in 1975. Although very common in England (even today), the Waltzer ride is not often seen in the US. The American version of this ride would be compared to a Tilt-A-Whirl. The Waltzer rides are different in that they are typically covered, and the operator sits in an enclosed booth in the center of the ride. But most important, the Waltzers are much more intense than the Tilt-A-Whirl. The ride was faster, the track had more hills and the spinning radius was smaller making for a more intense spin. The ride was insane! Carowinds managed to hang onto this ride for 2 seasons before it was removed after the '76 season. The Wagon Wheel (Trabant) was relocated to the old Waltzer spot.
